Giving Our Apprentices The Opportunity To Grow

PSM have recruited apprentices over the past years and this will be something which we will continue to actively support. Our approach will not only assist in providing us with the skills we need for the future, but also provide opportunities to those individuals interested in developing their careers in engineering.

The Role

P S Marsden’s apprenticeship allows them to study for an academic qualification, whilst working and learning on our shop floor alongside respected, highly qualified engineers.
As an apprentice, they study at the Nottingham College on day release, working towards an accredited qualification and combine this experience with workplace learning.

They are given a mentor to guide them through their professional and personal development, as well as having regular contact with an Assessor from the Nottingham College for support.

The Experience

Our apprentices bring enthusiasm and skills and in return, we support them with training and mentoring on some of the most high-profile and demanding projects.

At present, PSM have 5 young people, 2 of which have completed their NVQ’s and are currently in their second year of their HNC Course. We have 1 apprentice who is completing his NVQ Level 3 and working in our Inspection Department. We have also recruited 2 new apprentices, who joined us in September 2019 and in their first year of their NVQ Level 2.

PSM continue to be an employer of choice for young people. We’re proud to support the National Apprenticeship Service and to train the next generation of engineers, designers, thinkers and doers.
